History

The Stallion Battalion was authorized as a four-year program by General Order Number 5 dated 15 April 1994. The effective date of the unit's activation was 1 January 1993. The unit crest, a black rearing stallion upon a shield of black and silver, represents the school's mascot and colors. It was authorized by the US Department of Heraldry on 16 May 1994. The first triennial inspection was conducted during school year 1996-1997. Since that time the battalion has been certified as either an Honor Unit or Honor Unit with Distinction-- the two highest awards a unit can receive.
